What is an Idea Storm session?
Put a problem through its paces by gathering lots of ideas, then narrowing down and evaluating them.
This session takes you through the gears of idea generation. It makes a blank piece of paper far less scary for your team, and ends with a short list of clearly communicated ideas that have been evaluated to ensure they are robust.
How do you run the Idea Storm session?
This session includes each of the tactics listed below. You can follow the instructions on each card, or dive into this step-by-step guide with worked examples.
Frame your problem as a question to get the group into a solution mindset.
2. Mind Map
Frame the problem the project aims to solve, and what the measures of success will be.
3. Idea Eight
Using your Mind Map as a prompt, generate lots of ideas and share them with each other.
4. T-Bar Format
Develop your ideas further by drawing them up into this format, which also makes them clearer.
Evaluate each idea together, to see how it could be improved, or what might stop it from working.
Tip: If you're short on time, you can just do steps 1, 3 and 5.
