Teamwork

Progress report

When you're running a project, it's important to keep your boss up to speed.

You don't want to overwhelm them with details, though, as it can look like you don't have it under control.

Follow this structure for a perfect progress report:
  1. Current progress. Use tangible measurements, e.g. We're 75% through the design phase and on track to meet the Friday deadline.
  2. Challenges. Share what’s been slowing you down, but remember to say what you’re going to do about it.
  3. Next steps. Let them know what your next move is. You can also request help here if you need it (don’t let it balloon into a big problem!).

Productivity

The feeling switch

Feeling empty inside after chasing goal after goal?

It can happen to all of us - especially if we focus on what looks successful to others and not on what we truly want.

To counter this, work towards a feeling of satisfaction rather than a feeling of achievement each day. This will help you choose projects that truly fuel you over time.

Strategy

One in, one out

Is your team drowning in all the apps and management techniques you use?

When we hear of a new way of doing something, we can get excited and add it to our business immediately.

To avoid overwhelm, it’s important that you remove things just as often as you add them. You can ask your team to say what they use regularly or rank things in terms of usefulness.
